some austin recommendations
ramen tatsua - solid, very comforting ramen through a window. order online
veracruz all natural taco (at radio coffee) - their migas taco often gets best breakfast taco in town
if you want a more texas taco, the burnt ends taco at tyson's tacos
in general, google reviews knows whats up with tacos in austin and you can trust any broken down looking food truck with 4.3+ stars lol
kome sushi, for lunch it is a good deal for very high quality fish
mickelthwaite bbq in east austin is killer, unfortunately has been "discovered" tho i'm told you can order online now and save some wait
been hearing great things about kerlin bbq, haven't eaten there yet
honestly same deal, if a bbq truck has got a good rating it means it slaps
people like killa wasi, a peruvian / texan food truck (have not tried it)
kinda tropical is a very hip eastside bar in an old gas station but the food is solid and the drinks are fun, i like the paloma, big patio
hai ky is a forgettable vietnamese place but the #101 on their menu slays
el alma is near barton springs and their duck mole enchilladas are killer, you could take em to go in the park
easy tiger is an outdoor beer garden and bakery (one downtown and one north)
spider house .... is more a destination than a real recommendation, especially right now, but there has never been a patio like it
justine's - fancy french place with lots of outdoor space so it might be okay rn depending on how they're doing tables? steak frites are very solid
i love the butterfly bar, a bar outside a weirdo theatre, but again, even though outdoors..
texas keeper cider is a very beautiful cider house out in the country, outside
lots, lots of outdoor breweries and distilleries if they're the type, can send more recs, but again idk if i'd like to push that kind of thing right now
barton springs, yes even in the winter, worth a sit even if you don't dip
hamilton springs pool if you can get a visit slot
pedernales state park
bats are mostly gone for the year but you might catch the winter permanent population (relatively very small) under congress bridge at sunset
if you're a kayaking type, the kayak rentals on lady bird lake are a fun afternoon
barret's coffee is my favorite roastery in town, all service right now is through the window
the buzz mill's coffee is only okay, but they're 24 hours and have a big outside
civil goat coffee is *really* far from bastrop (its near where i grew up) but they do have a goat on premises (a lot of people ride bikes or motorcycles to there because it is off the big highway loop)
juiceland is the local juice chain and honestly they're worth it even though they're like $7. all service is through the window even in normal times
aw this made me homesick !!
